Captain Ty Stottlemyer is a 35-year veteran of Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services, Montgomery County, Maryland, invented Second Hands.
While testing hose one day, my engine driver and I were struggling to make and break some the Storz connections on our LDH supply line . When I asked my driver what does he do when the crew leaves him alone and he has a difficult coupling, he stated that he either finds someone to help him or fights with the spanner wrenches. Knowing that a second person is not always going to be there and that the spanner wrenches are not easy or fast, I knew that there had to be a better way.
To introduce the fire service to a better, faster and easier way to connect or disconnect LDH hose with Storz couplings.
